It appears as if William Nylander, Patrick Kane and Patrik Laine may have an acting career to follow up with their NHL paths after seeing the behind-the-scenes look at this Bauer stick campaign.

You may remember it from a couple of months ago when they were stick handling around the ice without a stick. Josh Caplan, the creative director from the shoot, got on the phone with us to explain some of the camera magic that went into making this video along with never-before-seen footage of the players as the video is being made.

As you can see in the video, the players were not actually holding sticks the entire time.

“We had two options coming into the shoot and that was to either give the players sticks and edit them out in post-production or have the players act out the movement,” Said Caplan, a former hockey player himself, “I tried it out myself for some samples and it looked pretty good, so we went with no stick knowing that it would be even better with players that handle this equipment at a professional level.”

Apparently they picked it up pretty quickly too, “because this is something they’re experts at, they needed very little coaching”.

With the acting done, all that was needed was a little post-production work to add in the pucks and this was the final product.

So light, it feels like nothing. #VAPOR1XLite is in stores today!

We’ve seen other videos like this in the past, that have been more focused on post-production so it’s always interesting to see the behind-the-scenes look at how it’s completed. Next year, let’s see if they can start faking some body checks.
