The Carolina Hurricanes are reacting very calmly to their best player signing a contract with another team. That’s because it’s an offer sheet and they’ll probably match it.

If you had any doubt after the underwhelming offer sheet was announced by the Habs, a recent tweet from the Carolina Hurricanes should put that to rest. Initially it was the reaction from their general manager that would have calmed the fans, but now, this tweet is basically mocking the offer sheet.

Not only are they basically stating that they will be matching it (The only option is yes), but they also threw in a little French in there.

Combine that with the fact that the Hurricanes’ GM Don Waddell said the main thing that surprised him about the offer sheet was that the AAV wasn’t higher. There are some unfortunate parts of the contract like walking Aho into free agency and having to pay him $21 million in the first 12 months, but it seems like there’s no other option.
