A goalie’s mask is something that they take very seriously, and there’s a reason why some goalie masks reach legendary status. The artform is undertaken by mask designers, who work to include customized elements and nuanced features to help personalize the head protection in the snazziest way possible.

Helmet designer David Arrigo recently flashed his handiwork when he was commissioned to help the Arizona Coyotes celebrate Hispanic heritage.

In recognition of the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, Arrigo created custom masks featuring notably vibrant colours, sculpted skulls that are associated with the holiday, and elements of the Coyotes team like the famous crescent moon.

The ‘Yotes will be auctioning off the three masks in benefit of the Arizona Coyotes Foundation. At the time of this writing, the masks - signed by goaltender Darcy Kuemper - are going for $1,100.

If you’d like to make a bid, or even if you’d like to just take a closer look, the masks can be found here!
