The Toronto Maple Leafs had to bring out the ladder during warmups ahead of their Wednesday night showdown with the New York Rangers. Not the one you lay on the ground and run your feet through… we’re talking about an actual ladder.

Why? … Soccer ball issues. Yes, you read that correctly.

Players were participating in a little keep it up before hitting the ice until all of the sudden, the ball was gone. Someone put a little too much juice into his kick and before players knew it, Kasperi Kapanen’s head was at ceiling level. They were able to easily locate the ball but come on… you can’t have these kind of distractions when you’re trying to get into your groove fellas!

Anything to keep that game of sewerball going… amiright?! Fans had their share of jokes about the whole thing:

Whether it was the ball or not, the Leafs did not have a solid first period. After John Tavares opened the scoring, New York scored three straight and never looked back, ultimately winning the game 5-3. The loss marked Toronto’s second in a row.

Toronto acquired goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford via trade after the game so let’s all hope they’re a bit better at kickin’ the footy around.
