Have you ever heard of the Cleveland Barons? You maaaaaay have seen their jersey as an option within the EA Sports NHL world, under one of the many Dallas Stars alternate tarps, but otherwise… you may have not known about the Barons at all.

In episode three of their ‘Sports Mysteries’ series, Corwin and DZ dive into the NHL franchise that simply disappeared. It’s a little more nuanced than that, but the Barons are the last team in NHL history to go defunct. They didn’t relocate.
So as not to spoil the suspense, we’ll let the guys do the talking…
Now that we know a little bit more about the operation… it makes sense that this franchise slid right out of the hockey landscape. Missed out on Guy Lafleur, hockey arena in the middle of nowhere with one road in and out, pretty much no warning that the franchise was moving away from the California Golden Seals and into the rust belt.
But yes, the Cleveland Barons essentially disappeared into a napkin.
