The action inside the NWHL bubble got underway on Saturday and it was a good day for some of the teams, but a great day for all of the fans who were treated to a full day of hockey.

One of the teams who came out on the positive side of things on the opening day was the Connecticut Whale, who edged the Buffalo Beauts, 2-1.

It might be the first game of the tournament, but there’s no way to celebrate a win with a beer named after your team (as long as you’re legal drinking age in that area).

That’s right, the Whale have their own beer dedicated to them called ‘Fins Up’, courtesy of Oyster Bay Brewing Company.

Not many people or teams can say they have a drink named after them, but the Whale can knock that off their list after just one game into the season.
