Yesterday was a sad, but in many ways, beautiful day for the city of Dorchester, Massachusetts.

The Neighborhood celebrated the life of Jimmy Hayes just days after the 31 unexpectedly passed away at his home. Jimmy was an icon in the community, and if you really want to know how loved he was, all you need to do is watch the way the people in the area paid tribute to him on the day of his funeral. Thousands hit the street to tap their sticks on the concrete to show their support for Jimmy and his family as he was laid to rest.

A beautiful, beautiful gesture.

For those wondering the type of person Jimmy was, all you need to do is listen to the speech his brother, Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin, gave inside the church. This is truly one of the most touching stories you’ll ever hear, just a heads up.

Rest In Peace, Jimmy Hayes.

Jimmy, you will be dearly missed by your community. What a person.
