One of the strangest NBA stories of the year was when an investigation by The Ringer revealed that Philadelphia 76ers GM Bryan Colangelo used burner Twitter accounts to criticize his own players and others, leading to Colangelo’s firing.

Elton Brand (who fans may recall from his days playing for Philly) has replaced Colangelo since, but the Sixers still can’t duck their burner issues. There was little media fanfare this time around, but on Saturday, the team released a statement apologizing for posts from the father of player Mike Muscala.

Upon further examination, Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice found that Bob Muscala had made a number of inflammatory posts under the “MuskieBobber” handle on Twitter, including racially coded messages targeting Jimmy Butler.

We’ll just add that for somebody named Bob Muscala, MuskieBobber isn’t the best alias we’ve ever seen.

Perhaps more people should just take Kevin Durant’s approach and bypass the burner accounts — just talk your trash with the checkmark (and, as a general guideline, maybe try to avoid racist messages),
