With the use of cardboard cutouts in crowd sections, sports teams have had a unique opportunity to represent their fans in the stands — as opposed to the other way around — and it’s safe to say that we have not been let down.

For their Monday Night Football game against the Bears, the Los Angeles Rams are dedicating a section of their cardboard cutout crowd to cancer survivors and current fighters. The section includes Cam Akers' mother as well as offensive lineman Chandler Brewer, both of whom are survivors.

It’s great to see the Rams doing something so cool with their crowd section, since their actual fans aren’t able to fill up the place like usual.

We’ve seen other NFL teams do similar things, including the Washington Football Team surprising coach Ron Rivera with a cardboard cutout section of his friends, family and former players. (Rivera, who was then fighting a cancer diagnosis, just completed his final treatment on Monday! Shout out to Coach Rivera.)
