In hockey, it’s the captains job to keep an open line of communication going with the referees. Most people feel you can have some influence by mentioning missed calls, arguing calls made or just striking up a conversation.

Erik Karlsson seems to subscribe to the latter strategy.

The Ottawa Senators were taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night and there Karlsson approached a referee at one point, in what seems like a wholesome conversation. If we had to guess what words were exchanged, it looks like Karlsson is asking if something was penalty, the ref shakes his head no and Karlsson says okay.

That’s just a hilarious view to see because it’s so rare, and oddly enough it has us thinking about video games.

One of the big differences between the current NHL games and the other major sports are the story modes. Madden, FIFA and NBA 2K have story modes with unique interactions and an actual plotline to a Be a Pro style game.

We can imagine this being one of the views as you’re on the ice and your team captain comes up to make sure you know your role.

Maybe they can make it a WWE x NHL storyline.

WWE meets NHL 😂 . #ThumbLeague
