Maple Leaf Square received a pleasant surprise this postseason when a set of referees showed up to call the action on its big screen. The two officials have quickly become recognized throughout the country for their unbiased work and dedication to the job.

Tonight, the men were back outside for the Leafs’ Game 7 contest against the Boston Bruins. Contrary to their previous two appearances, there were more than just Leaf fans in the Square. The Raptors, who played a home game inside of the ACC against the Washington Wizards, also had fans come downtown to cheer on the team. One of the two refs apparently has experience in basketball as well and undressed into an NBA officiating outfit at intermission of the Buds game.

These guys are heroes! The ref clearly understands his priorities though, considering how quickly he changed back into his hockey outfit.

The young refs have been pretty spot on with each of their calls over the past couple of matchups. Both have been very visible near the front of the action.

They were even prepared for a goaltender interference call on a go-ahead goal that was called back by Leafs forward Zach Hyman.

The 2017 playoffs had β€˜Dart Guy’ and 2018 has these two dudes. With the Leafs officially eliminated, perhaps they'll continue making appearences for the Raptors going forward.
