The thing about NHL awards, and awards in general, is that they’re pretty discretionary

No matter how stat-based or fact-based an opinion about a certain player or team is, it’s still just an opinion,  and can always be be contested by the general public.

So when you mix this undeniable truth a community as passionate as the hockey one is, and it’s just a “*insert favourite player here* was robbed!” storm waiting to happen. 

Such is always the case with the NHL awards, and today, upon the announcement of Vezina Trophy finalists, this was especially evident. While some fans were completely fine with the finalists, as voted by the league’s 31 General Managers, some fans felt pretty strongly about who they felt were gross omissions.

Yup, definitely some mixed emotions there, and especially from Sens fans, who have had two of the three nominees on their roster at one point or another. Definitely some salt in that wound. 

 

 

We definitely think all three finalists are worthy, despite other nominees' excellent seasons.

But hey, would it really be hockey without a little debate or controversy?

 

We think not.
