The Los Angeles Rams are off to the Super Bowl, but Saints fans have every reason to want a do-over of the NFC Championship, as the result of the game was influenced by a pivotal pass interference no-call that was missed by the referees and later declared as a missed call by the NFL.

The NFL will reportedly consider a CFL-style rule change in the offseason that would allow coaches to challenge calls or non-calls on pass interference, but even if such a rule passes, it will be too late for the Saints and this year’s Super Bowl.

Unless the internet gets its way, that is. It didn’t take long for someone to start an online petition demanding a NFC Championship rematch in the gap week before the Super Bowl, and at the time of writing — Monday afternoon — the petition had already garnered over 300,000 signatures.

We’ve seen some truly ambitious internet petitions in our time, but this one really does have no chance. Maybe a justified one, though, as even Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman admitted that he thought he should’ve been flagged for pass interference on the play.

Let’s see if there’s a number of signatures that can be gathered over the next week to get the NFL to acknowledge this petition.
