Friday, Team Canada and Team USA played in the first-ever outdoor game in World Junior Championship history. It was cold, it was snow and it was oh so fun.

Before the game, players were asked how they planned on preparing for the frigid conditions, and as Canada's Carter Hart explained, a lot of players already have a ton of experience playing outdoors. After all, having an outdoor rink in your backyard is kind of what every hockey fan dreams of.

Each year TSN's very own Darren Dreger puts it upon himself to share images of backyard rinks from fans all over the globe, as well as share a few pictures of his own family rink. Saturday, Dreger shared images of his backyard pong and it looks gorgeous.

Looking at Dreger's outdoor rink has us in the mood to gaze upon some of the best DIY creations from 2017. Let's start off with Sam Steel's epic Anaheim Ducks/Regina Pats themed behemoth...

That one sure is a beaut, but as these folks in Idaho showed, sometimes Mother Nature creates the greatest outdoor rinks of them all.
