Building a new hockey arena can economic boom for a small city or town depending on its size and population. It can give young kids a chance a venue to play the sport they love, while also creating a number of jobs for the community.

But far too often, we see stadiums and arenas that become abandoned, and end up becoming a complete headache for a town. Whether it was an Olympic games, or just a rundown sports venue that was hit hard with father time, seeing an old vacant arena or stadium that hasn’t hosted a sporting event in years presents an element of creepiness and sadness.

Over in Belgium, the Pationoire de Coronmeuse arena was built in 1939 in the city of Liege and played home to the Belgian hockey team, CP Liegeois. Thanks to the fine folks about Reddit/Hockey we have a picture of the arena, and it’s downright spooky, and looks like a great Call of Duty map.

According to this article posted on the French website DHNet.be, the arena’s roof collapsed under the weight from a bunch of snow and was closed in 2011. When the seasons changed from winter to spring, severe water damage caused the arena to constantly leak when the snow melted. The beams of the building were bent and water seepage appeared all over the building.

What’s interesting is that, despite the building being closed, electricity still ran through the building, creating that fantastic photo.

While we’d love to play a game of roller hockey inside there, the risk of the roof collapsing is obviously not worth the thrill, not to mention the potential health risks from mold. But in an alternative universe, it would sure be a ton of fun to play in, or at least run around in a game of COD.
