There have been a lottttt of great Zdeno Chara stories throughout the years. Heck, the guy’s been in the NHL for 23 seasons for crying out loud! But all these years later… we think we may have found our new favourite.
Big Z signed with the team that drafted him in 1996 (yes, 1996!), the New York Islanders, and a play-by-play voice Howie Rose recalled a hilarious moment the two shared from Chara’s rookie season. Just a friendly reminder from Howie that the 44-year-old is in fact a friendly giant!
Classic Z. Safe to say he’s pumped to be back where it all started!
Who knows if this will be Chara’s last season in the league but it’s nice that everything came back full circle. He joins a stacked back end in New York!
