There's nothing enjoyable about being on the receiving end of a blowout loss, but every athlete was taught to play hard until the final whistle blows or the clock hits zero because you never know what can happen and your pride is on the line.
It's hard not to just give up, however, when your team is down 19-0. Yes, that actually happened in a warm-up match between Everton and a seventh-tier Austrian team ATV Irdning.
With Everton up 19-0 late in the game, the goalie for the Austrian club gave the opposing team the entire net to shoot at as he just stood still and didn't attempt to make the save.
Can't really blame him at that point with the score 19-0. Everton went on to win the game 22-0 and posted all 22 goals in this highlight video on YouTube.
