The past few years has seen a steady resurgence in arcade hockey games both on console and PC. Earlier this year Canadian developer V7 Entertainment released Old Time Hockey, a classic arcade game set in the 1970s. The fights were bloody and the hits were big, but Super Blood Hockey ramps up the physical contact to a whole new level.

SBH is a throwback to the days of 8-bit and 16-bit hockey games, but with a few major differences -- it's packed with blood and crazy rule changes. Check out the trailer here.

No rules, 12 on 12 fights and "losing may result in your execution." Super Blood Hockey definitely isn't your grandad's arcade hockey experience. The first edition of the game has been out since last year, but on August 17th an updated version of the game will hit the Steam store. No word as of yet on whether or not SBH will be available on consoles in the future.
