On Saturday, the NCAA’s NC State Wolfpack had a home game in the PNC Arena against Maryland Eastern Shore with a 2pm local start. Three hours after that game ended, the Carolina Hurricanes would defend the same building against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

That meant the arena had to be quickly converted from a basketball court to an ice hockey rink, and photographer Bill Howard stuck around to record the process, leading to a pretty impressive time-lapse video.

The time was roughly 4:00pm when they began to disassemble the court, and 5:14pm in the video’s final frame — meaning the stadium crew was able to make the change in just over an hour. That’s incredible!

There are occasionally scheduling clusters that require a quick-change — we’re reminded of when the Staples Center played host to playoff games that featured the Kings, Lakers and Clippers all at once — but it never fails to impress.
