A few years ago Craig Cunningham’s life flashed before his eyes when he collapsed on the ice during a pre-game skate prior to a Tucson Roadrunners game on November 19, 2016.

It turns out Cunningham, just 26-years-old at the time, suffered an acute cardiac arrest caused by ventricular fibrillation, which caused his heart to stop and required 85 minutes of continual CPR. Thanks to the quick thinking on-ice medical team and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Banner-University Medical Center, Cunningham’s life was saved, but he had to have his lower left leg amputated after developing an infection due to circulation problems.

On Wednesday afternoon, the former Coyotes prospect turned pro scout returned to the ice and he was flying around the surface like he used to.

Cunningham has made huge strides since the scary moment that occurred two-and-a-half years ago as he was back on the ice in skates just four months after the incident happened and now this. It’s truly unbelievable what people are capable of achieving if they set their mind to it.

Way to go, Craig!
