Tie Domi and Rob Ray were two of the toughest players in the NHL during their playing days and they became very familiar with each other as they went toe-to-toe 13 different times during their careers.

The Arizona Coyotes were in Buffalo for a date with the Sabres on Wednesday night and Tie made the trip down to the KeyBank Center to catch his son, Max, in action. Following the game, the former Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer waited by the doors where the referees and media members exit afterwards and he caught Ray completely by surprise.

Ray spent 14 seasons in a Sabres jersey and currently works as the team’s colour commentator, but he almost took a page out of his playing days after Domi startled him as he exited the ice.

Despite going head-to-head against each other more times than any other opponent, Domi and Ray remain pretty good friends to this day.
