In the last few weeks, we’ve seen some pretty elaborate and interesting pitches from fans trying to recruit superstar free agents or players on the trade block.

Before John Tavares signed in Toronto, a New York bagel shop, as well as a cheesecake store, offered a lifetime supply of their products if Tavares opted to re-sign on Long Island.

With the big fish on the market, all signed to contracts, the attention in the NHL offseason now turns to players like Max Pacioretty and Erik Karlsson, two superstars that are likely done playing for their respective Canadian clubs.

One of the teams rumoured to be in the running for the Senators’ franchise defenceman is the Vegas Golden Knights. Enjoying some downtime by escaping away from all the rumours Karlsson posted a photo to his Instagram on Thursday of himself playing golf over in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Another beautiful day. #trumpinternational

That’s DJ Tiesto, a noted hockey fan, telling Karlsson to “come to Vegas and I’ll show you the best golf course in the country!”

It’s not like Karlsson has full control over his destination like a traditional free agent, but don’t tell Tiesto that. Karlsson will have some say in potentially picking the team, as the team acquiring him would want to re-sign him to a lucrative extension that mirrors what Drew Doughty signed in Los Angeles for. Or perhaps he just wants Karlsson to come play golf?

If Karlsson does end up in Vegas, it could be the Golden Knights who will be having a golden night with the Dutch megastar, just like the Capitals after they won Lord Stanley’s Cup.
