And just like that, John Tortorella’s seat has gotten increasingly warmer.

Just over a month after trading Pierre-Luc Dubois for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic, Columbus is riding a five game losing streak and slowly seeing their place in the Eastern division slip. Say what you want about the players but at the end of the day, the coach is the first person blamed for these types of things and all eyes have been on the veteran coach amid Columbus’ struggles. We’re used to seeing the animated bench boss fire off on the media but when asked about his security, he actually kept things very professional and to the point.

This ain’t Torts’ first rodeo either. The 62-year-old was previously fired by the Lightning, Rangers and Canucks so been there, done that. His record, however, is more than impressive 663-525-37-125 speaks for itself and the blame can’t solely lie on his shoulders. Cam Atkinson is currently Columbus’ leading scorer with just 17 points in 23 games.

Torts has led the Jackets to four consecutive playoff appearances but who knows what’ll happen if his team keeps losing. They have a get-right matchup with the Red Wings at home on Tuesday night.
