After failing to make the playoffs last season, the Edmonton Oilers are already behind the proverbial "8-ball" and the 2018/19 season hasn't even started yet.

Earlier this week, the team announced that defenceman Andrej Sekera underwent successful surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon and will be sidelined indefinitely.  Sekera only played 36 games last season and the Oilers were counting on him to play a big role.

The Oilers will now need to find a way to replace him and that could happen by way of trade based on rumours that could start to heat up again involving the Bruins.

To be clear, the Krug to Edmonton talk is rumours and speculation at this point, but they have reportedly had conversations in the past about a deal which would make sense as Peter Chiarelli was the GM of the Bruins at one point.

Training camp is right around the corner, so if the Oilers decide they want to replace Sekera by way of a trade, it could happen sooner rather than later.
