Brian Dozier is one of very few second basemen to be known for his power, but that’s not what got him all around the bases on Saturday.

In the Twins game against Detroit, Dozier was leading off the game and went to lay down a bunt. Well, it worked out well for him as a got on base with a bunt single, but that wasn’t all. Jeimer Candelario then bare-handed the ball and threw it well past first base so Dozier kept on running. Because of the shift on in the outfield, Dozier was then able to make it all the way home before they could get the ball back to home plate.

It was truly an unusual sight to open up a ball game.

Of course, as we said above, it is actually counted as a bunt single with an error instead of an inside the park home run.

Not to worry, the run counts all the same and Dozier certainly doesn’t need any help in the power category. In the last two seasons, he has 11 more home runs than any other second baseman and has put up decent averages and on-base percentages alongside those.

For Minnesota, it’s looking more and more like they will clinch the second wildcard spot in this year’s playoffs, so they’ll have plenty to celebrate in the near future – especially if their luck continues like this.
