Over the past few years, fighting in the game of hockey has become more and more scrutinized. The safety of it is becoming more of a priority than the level of “firing up” it provides a team, and as a result we’re seeing less and less in the way of enforcers in the NHL.

In lower level leagues where guys are constantly trying to prove themselves, it’s a little more common. It will likely never be quite what it used to be, but every once in a while you’ll see a barn-burner scrap that gets everyone fired up.

That’s what happened between two AHLers on Sunday when Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators affiliate) winger Mathieu Olivier squared off against Chicago Wolves (Vegas Golden Knights affiliate) winger Alex Gallant.

These two wanted blood, and it looks like Gallant drew a little from the eye of Olivier. To make matters a little more intense, both players decided to remove their helmets before engaging, resulting in an extra two minutes.

In the end, it would be Olivier’s Admirals that prevailed with a 4-0 victory.
