The Dallas Stars have finally crossed “sign Tyler Seguin” off of their to do list.

On Thursday afternoon, the team announced they have extended the forward with an eight-year/$78.8 million contract extension. Seguins' contract will kick in next season and will become the team’s highest paid player above captain Jamie Benn ($9.5 AAV).

 

Oh, and they made the announcement in a very unique way

 

After his big payday became official, the hockey world took to Twitter to both acknowledge the deal and congratulate Seguin on a well-deserved raise.

 

After five consecutive seasons of at least 70 points, Seguin will look to lead the Stars to a Stanley Cup. Who knows, he might not be the only player to sign a new deal with the team before the upcoming season commences...
