Sabri Sediri was well on his way to successfully defending his WBO European super lightweight belt
His record would've remained perfect.
But he just had to obnoxiously showboat in the final moments of the title fight against Sam Maxwell on Saturday night. With 15 seconds to go in the final round, Sediri entered into the showboating mode and it completely cost him the match and his belt.
Sediri taunted Maxwell and allowed himself to lose what will surely go down as the most embarrassing defeat in his boxing car.
That's something you'd see out of a Hollywood script. Credit to Maxwell for fighting the strength late in the 10th round to strike Sediri which such force, but that loss is all on the champion for dropping his hands, exposing his chin and not showing the proper sportsmanship a champion should.
Always respect your opponent, especially in a sport like boxing.
