Hockey players are as superstitious as they come, and if you don’t believe us just look at the obsessive routines they embark on before each and every game.

For some it’s a meal, for others maybe a nap, but not every pre-game ritual is quite as regular as those. When something’s working for a player, they want to do it the same each and every time.

For Victor Hedman, his pre-game ritual may not be purely superstition. It could also be seen as an exercise of focus, seeing as breaking focus may hack his assistant equipment manager’s finger right off.

Rob Kennedy is the brave man to stare straight ahead while Hedman gets rid of any pre-game jitters. We don’t have the statistics on how many fingers Kennedy has hurt to help out his star, but we’re thinking Hedman must be pretty good in order for this ritual to continue. It’s been going on a very long time.

Would you trust an NHL star if they asked you to stand there through this?
