Alex Ovechkin’s time with the Stanley Cup has sadly come to an end.

After numerous ‘keg stands’ from its brim, public swims in water fountains with it, and a parade for the ages, it’s finally time for a new Caps teammate to have some alone time with the trophy. The 32-year-old brought the mug home for the World Cup and shared his experience with pretty much everyone in the city. When his time was finally up, Ovi shared some touching parting words with the Cup, assuring that it wouldn’t be long before the two met again.

A friendship for the ages.

The final days of Ovi’s time with the Cup will soon not be forgotten. He shared a special moment with his father, brought it to his childhood home, and even brought it to his late brother’s grave, who died from a blood-clot following a car crash when Ovechkin was just 10 years old.

Before his trip home, Ovi provided some of the best content with the Stanley Cup that hockey fans have ever seen. Here’s a lot at some of the things he got up to with it.

Seeing Ovi win back-to-back cups wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for hockey.
