As a hockey fan, there’s nothing quite like having that hometown pride and cheering your home team on.

The love that hockey fans have for their team goes STRONG.

But unfortunately for some fans, cheering on your hometown team isn’t an option because your city just simply doesn’t have a franchise.

Yeah sure, you can cheer on the next closest city such as hockey fans in Cleveland may cheer for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but about if the NHL was given the opportunity to hit us all with yet another expansion?

Where would this all-time number of teams in a league record-breaking franchise be located?

Well, we have a few ideas but we thought it’d be best to go through some of YOUR responses.

Quebec City, Quebec

Well, we saw this one coming from a mile away. It goes without question that the return of the Nordiques would absolutely have people all across Quebec buzzing.

Vince here is bringing some facts to the table and you have to respect it.

Houston, Texas

This one is a LARGELY felt movement. Coming in one of the top suggestions in the replies, we actually kind of vibe with the idea of some more cowboy x hockey vibes.

What's up Houston, WHATS UP!?

New Orleans, Louisiana

There’s nothing we’d love more than to have some more southern flair in the league. If a team was able to bring some Mardi Gras celebrations along with their expansion, it’d be a party every game.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

You know who needs some loving? The East coast. So of course the capital of Nova Scotia was a highly suggested location.

Saskatchewan

So people would LOVE a team out in the Prairies, but there wasn’t an exact indication of where.

Saskatoon? Regina? Moose Jaw? There are a few options but we honestly love the idea of the next franchise being in Canada.

Honourable Mentions

So some teams didn’t get as much love as others and that’s fine! We love underdog stories, and who knows maybe an expansion to one of these locations could be on the NHL’s agenda within the next few years if they decided to expand?

Cleveland, Ohio

Portland, Oregon

Hamilton, Ontario

Salt Lake City, Utah

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
