As soon as Team Canada got bounced from the World Juniors a majority of Canadian fans immediately jumped on the Switzerland bandwagon. Unfortunately for the Swiss they failed to advance to the gold medal game for the first time in World Juniors history, but they still earned a chance to play for the bronze medal despite the loss.

On Saturday afternoon, the Swiss went up against Russia looking to end their tournament on a high note with a bronze medal but they were going to need to battle for a full 60 minutes to make that possible. After going down 3-1 with just over seven minutes left in the second period, Switzerland made it a game again a few minutes later thanks to a ridiculous goal by Yannick Bruschweiler.

What a wild sequence in the bronze medal game 😱 #WorldJuniors

A wild sequence led to Switzerland’s second goal of the game as it first looked like Pyotr Kochetkov made the save of the tournament and quite possibly the save of the year, but after watching it over from different angles it clearly hits the post and bounces back out. Save or not, it doesn’t take away from how beautiful the goal actually was.
