The Atlanta Falcons should consider themselves fortunate to have All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones in their employ, but by the looks of things, he might have some untapped potential as a safety, too.

Playing against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Matt Ryan overthrew Jones pretty badly on a deep pass, and it looked to be a sure interception by Jeff Heath — until Jones laid him out with the hit-stick.

It looks easy in slow-motion, but for a receiver to snap out of his receiving motion in time to make the tackle is truly an incredible read by Jones, and he got all of it to prevent the pick-off.

Although he was the victim of an unusual touchdown-less streak through his first seven games of the season, Jones has had a touchdown in each of his last three games, including against the Cowboys. He’s also on pace for 1,852 yards, which would rank third all-time for single-season receiving yards — and oh, he already holds second place on that list, with his 1,871-yard turn-in in 2015.

And, he’s no stranger to making the big hits, either.
