If wouldn’t know it by looking at his size, but Mario is an elite athlete.

From riding go karts in Mario Kart, to battling Luigi, Bowser, Wario and company in Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, the Nintendo superstar is ready to once again show why he’s the real king of the Mushroom Kingdom in the latest edition of the Mario Tennis Series. Heck, he can even hit up the links and drive the ball hundreds of yards.

Mario Tennis Aces was released on Friday on Nintendo Switch. Critiques and consumers were quick to point out that it resembles more so of a fighting game that doesn’t exactly align with the famous “game, set and match” setup you heard in the original version. There's a whole story mode as well, which allows to to collect rackets throughout the Mushroom Kingdom.

There's still of course the actual tennis side of the game, though. One of the new features about the game that stood out is that the rackets in the game are able to be damaged, meaning you beat your opponents by breaking their racket and causing them to forfeit a match.

There’s a number of different ways to hit the ball: trick shots, zone shots, and special shots. Depending where the ball is hit to on the court and if the opponent returns the ball back at the exact right time, rackets will be damaged if not returned on time.

Each racket has a special “health” meter to it, so even if you’re beating your opponents by the traditional means of tennis, you still have a chance to win.

Luigi, Wario, Peach, Waluigi, Daisy, Rosalina, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Toad, Toadette, Chain Chomp, Bowser Jr and Spike all join Mario in the game.
