The 2017 IIHF World Championship officially got underway on Friday.
One of the first games in the tournament featured two powerhouses in Team Sweden and Team Russia. With it being an international tournament, fans expecting a lot of goals and very little physical plays.
However, Swedish defenceman Alex Edler decided to switch things up early on in the game and decided to throw his body around.
The defenceman caught Evgeny Dadonov with a huge hit at the blue line that sent both Edler and the Russian forward to the ice.
