Even though the NHL season is over and it's summer, hockey is still on the minds of fans of the sport everywhere.

In fact, some would argue hockey is even more enjoyable to play in the summer because you can show up to the arena in flip flops, you can hang out in the parking lot all night long after the game and there's probably more ice time because some of your teammates might be on vacation.

We're not the only ones that can make a legitimate case for summer hockey being awesome, though.  Thursday, Brent Burns shared with the world why he thinks summer hockey is wonderful.

Obviously Burns' perspective is a little different (no long shifts in the show), but both reasons are fair and apply to everyone playing summer hockey.

Speaking of NHLers and summer hockey, while many enjoy some time away from the rink during the offseason, others can't stay away and many are playing in Da Beauty League in Minnesota.

Enjoy summer hockey while it lasts, folks, because soon the quest for the Stanley Cup will begin again and as the weather gets colder, the intensity on rinks everywhere will rise.
