The Montreal Canadiens were one of the busiest teams heading up to and during this year’s NHL trade deadline. They went out and acquired Jordie Benn, Brandon Davidson, Steve Ott, Dwight King and Andreas Martinsen in hopes of becoming grittier before the playoffs.

Benn was the first veteran name they added to their roster, as they acquired the defenceman from the Dallas Stars two days before the actual trade deadline.

After spending the last six and a half years with the Stars’ organization, you can bet Benn was a bit thrown off when he found himself surrounded by the media on his first day in town.

Hailing from Victoria, BC, the 29-year-old is one of three BC natives on the Canadiens’ roster, with the other two being Shea Weber and Carey Price. Since Price and Benn come from the same province, Arpon Basu asked Price if he had a prior relationship with Benn before the deal, which Price quickly responded to with the most hilarious answer.

We’re going to go ahead and guess Benn didn’t take the comment personally.

Since Benn joined the Canadiens lineup, the team has gone 4-0 and have allowed just three goals during that span after allowing 14 goals in the four games before his arrival.
