Tragedy struck last weekend as Isaiah Thomas’ 22-year-old sister was killed in a car crash on the night before Game 1 between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls.

Dealing with a lot of emotions, Thomas decided he would still play the game and honoured his sister with a special message on his shoes.

The team also held a moment of silence for Chyna ahead of the game, and the crowd chanted ‘MVP’ the first time Thomas went to the line in the game.

Now, after a few days and two NBA playoff games, Thomas has spoken out about his sister’s death for the first time and did so with a public statement.

Thomas has been nothing but inspirational through the first two games, even if the Celtics do find themselves down 2-0 heading back to Chicago.

It’s nice to see his teammates and the Celtics fan base have his back during this tough time.
