The Arizona Coyotes were pretty happy when they were able to land defenceman Jakob Chychrun with the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

After scoring 27 goals and totaling 82 points in 104 OHL games, the 19-year-old made the NHL roster right from the get go and finished with 7 goals and 20 points in 68 NHL games.

Looking to build off his rookie campaign and improve for his sophomore season, Chychrun is spending a lot of time in the gym this offseason and he recently shared a video of his first box jumps of the summer.

After coming across the video online, a young Coyotes fan decided to put his fitness to the test and started repeating Chychrun’s workout in his room.

The Coyotes defenceman ended up seeing the video on Twitter and shared an awesome message with the youngster.

It’s awesome to see young fans get influenced in a positive way by professional athletes, and it’s even better when the athlete reaches out to them.
