Eddie Olczyk inspired a lot of people on Wednesday night as the former NHL player returned to the broadcast booth for the first time this season since being diagnosed with colon cancer this past August.

Edzo revealed back in August that he had been diagnosed with a form of colon cancer and is currently six weeks into a 24-week chemotherapy regimen, but he told NBC he felt good enough to continue working after his third of nine treatments, according to NHL.com.

On Wednesday, the 51-year-old Chicago Blackhawks/NBC TV broadcaster returned to the booth for the first time this season, and everyone in St. Louis was on their feet to welcome him back.

Olczyk will also be in the booth on Thursday night when the Blackhawks return home to play the Edmonton Oilers.

Hopefully we’ll see Olczyk in the booth more this season, but he’s going to take things day by day and see how he’s feeling after his treatments.
