Edinson Volquez needed just 98 pitches to throw the sixth no-hitter in Miami Marlins history on Saturday afternoon.

The 33-year-old right-handed pitcher struck out 10 batters and surrendered just two walks in nine innings of work as the Marlins blanked the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 in Miami on Saturday.

After the game, Volquez dedicated his no-hitter to former Kansas City Royals teammate Yordano Ventura and former Marlins ace Jose Fernandez in a post-game interview with Fox Sports Florida.

“Miss you broth HBD to Ace Ventura one love”

Volquez and the Marlins thought he was going to have to leave the game early in the first inning after he collided with Reymond Fuentes at first base. Instead, he went on to throw the sixth no-hitter in franchise history.
