The last time the Oilers made the playoffs (before this season), Kanye West hadn't released 'Graduation' yet.

It's been that long of a wait for Edmonton fans but the wait that lasted a little over a decade is finally over as playoff hockey is back in Oil country.

The #Oilers are in! The @edmontonoilers have clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2006.

As you can imagine, the reactions were pretty incredible once the Oilers finally stamped a ticket to the postseason earlier this week.

As incredible the social media reaction was, it didn't match what Edmonton's own rapper Cadence Weapon did to honour the Oilers' playoff berth as he released the song 'Connor McDavid.'

Fire.  Absolute fire.

As good as the Auston Matthews rap song is, there's really no comparison.

Cadence Weapon, who dropped his first studio album in 2005, has received positive reviews for the song on the internet since dropping it.

The references in the song are also incredible.

Everyone from McDavid, to Wayne Gretzky, to Mike Grier, to Ryan Smyth is mentioned in it, which truly makes the song one that Oilers fans can rally around.

We imagine once McDavid gets word of the song, he'll be jamming along to it along with the rest of his teammates.

If you haven't heard Cadence Weapon's work before, check him and his new single out here.
