The Ottawa Senators hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night and it was an absolute battle from the get go.

Late in the first period, Sidney Crosby whacked Marc Methot on his hand as he dumped the puck into the Pens’ zone. Unfortunately for Methot, Crosby ended up doing more damage than he probably expected.

(WARNING: The video is a little graphic)

It turns out Crosby actually happened to take off a chunk of Methot’s finger with the slash, and everyone watching the game were pretty much left in shock as they noticed Methot’s finger as he skated to the Senators’ bench without his glove on his hand.

The Senators released this statement during the second period of the game, updating Methot’s status.

Methot will most likely miss some time due to this injury, but you never know with hockey players.
