The World Cup of Hockey had mixed reviews earlier this season, but we’re sure the players on Team Canada were thrilled with it after adding another piece of hardware to their trophy case.
Most of the tournament hype was tied up in the young Team North America, and by the end of the tournament, Canada walked over Team Europe in the final series. Still, regardless of how people felt about the tournament, they players still get rewarded for their win – and they were rewarded indeed. There’s probably nobody who enjoyed it as much as Matt Duchene, who hasn’t had nearly as much fun in the NHL this year with all the trade rumours and his team struggling.
We’re not sure who got to keep the weird trophy, but Duchene shared a photo of the rings that the players have received.
