While we have seen plenty of physical training from NHL players over the course of the summer, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner have been fine tuning their chirping.
Of course, most offseason training is done off the ice, so they have taken the chirping to Instagram. From Marner’s tourist photos with Hockey Canada to Auston Matthews’ photo with a fidget spinner, the two new Leafs players have made sure to drop in on the comments of each other’s summer content. The latest post didn’t even actually involve Marner, but instead, his girlfriend posted a photo without him even in it.
Matthews saw a young man in a Blue Jays hat though and took his opportunity to poke fun at Marner’s boyish looks.
Marner commented a couple burgers after that, which we’re assuming is a joke saying they have beef. So, we can only imagine their Instagram game is going to start ramping up as the team starts heading into training camp and closer to the start of the season.
They don’t miss a beat. Just look back at the fidget spinner photo. This thing is barely peeking out of Auston Matthews’ hand, but Mitch is there to spot it.
The kid in the first photo isn’t the only one Marner was getting compared to this weekend, as Marner posted a picture with Canadian superstar musician, Shawn Mendes, and everybody in the comments couldn’t help but notice the resemblance.
