For the third year in a row, the season is over and Montreal Canadiens fans have been left disappointed.

For the first time since the 2012-13 season, Montreal was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after losing to New York in six games.

The Habs scored just 11 goals over the six-game series and their captain, Max Pacioretty, didn't find the back of the net in the series.

Yet, when the series was over, fans took to social media to start the 'trade Carey Price' talk.

Monday, GM Marc Bergevin put those trade rumours to rest and made it clear he intends to sign Price.

Now, where have we heard something similar before...

Safe to say it's easy to understand why Montreal fans are experiencing a little bit of déjà vu this time around with Carey Price.

We understand why Habs fans would be feeling some déjà vu, but we imagine this time will be different.

That said, anything can happen and if a special offer comes along for Price, Bergevin could make a deal.

Safe to say, though, that Habs fans won't be resting easy until Price is signed to a long-term deal.
