Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final between the Penguins and Predators had fans on the edge of their seats for the entire game due to the fact that the first goal of the game was scored in the third period.

Hockey fans would probably disagree with that statement, though, because in their minds, the first goal of the game was scored just over a minute into the second period by the Preds.

Unfortunately, the referee blew the whistle when he lost sight of the puck and then Nashville put it in the net, so the goal was disallowed.

Obviously the goal could have changed the entire game, and if it was allowed, the Stanley Cup final might be heading back to Pittsburgh for Game 7.

That's not the case, though, and the Penguins are Stanley Cup champions for the second straight season.

After the game, it would have been easy for the Predators to rip the officials apart for the questionable call, but Pekka Rinne and company displayed an incredible amount of sportsmanship when talking about the play:

The most difficult thing in the world is to be classy in defeat after losing in such heartbreaking fashion, but Rinne and Fisher couldn't have handled it better.

Despite the disappointing ending to the season, however, P.K. Subban is optimistic about the future, and Preds fans should be, too.
