Of all the goalie pads and masks to be revealed over the past couple of months, Robin Lehner just showed off some of the best ones yet.

There have been some popular designs including Mike Smith’s new Flames pads, Marc-Andre Fleury’s Vegas pads and Eddie Lack’s new Calgary set – but Lehner’s might top them all. Goalie pads tend to have a lot of linear lines running up and down and diagonally on their pads, which Lehner saw as an opportunity to reference his own team on them.

Playing for the Sabres, it probably just made sense to include the team’s sword seamlessly into the design.

It seems to be a theme to give shoutouts to your team on your pads this season as the Lehner and Lack have both done. The other tender to give this a try is Henrik Lundqvist who pulled off this awesome illustration of the Statue of Liberty on his pads.
