Believe it or not, the Edmonton Oilers have advanced to the second round of the NHL playoffs.
Edmonton held a 3-2 series lead heading into Saturday night’s game six showdown, and when Connor McDavid scored an empty-net goal to put the Oilers up 3-1 late in the third, the bench irrupted. Shark Fans were invetibly disappointed, but one fan took things a little too far when he dumped an entire bag of popcorn onto the bench.
Head coach Todd McLellan didn’t seem too pleased, but we imagine it didn’t bother him too much, considering he had just eliminated his old team from the postseason.
The Oilers will now take on the Anaheim Ducks, in what’s sure to be a hard-fought second round series.
