The preseason is important for prospects and rookies to acclimated to the NHL game, and it also gives them a chance to stand out, earn a roster spot and start to make a name for themselves.

For example, the first overall pick in 2017, Nico Hischier, has been lighting the lamp for the Devils this preseason and fans are really excited to see him play in the regular season.

The second overall pick, Nolan Patrick, hasn't been as good as Nico in the stats department (three assists in six games), but there are other ways to make an impact and Thursday night, Patrick displayed that by fighting David Krejci of the Bruins.

Many Flyers considered the fight as a rite of passage and if there's one picture that somewhat supports that, it's this awesome picture of Flyers captain Claude Giroux giving the 19-year-old some props.

Nobody expects Patrick to do that on a nightly basis, but the fans and his teammates appreciated seeing the rookie stand up for himself and mix it up.

Now, though, they want to see him score goals, especially once the regular season rolls around.
